2025 Annual Results Report of the UN in Trinidad and Tobago
In 2025, the United Nations partnered with Trinidad and Tobago to advance a transformative national agenda, fostering a more resilient and sustainable future amidst a shifting global landscape. This collective impact was anchored by the formal signing of the UN Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022–2026, which unified 23 UN entities under a shared vision. Strategic efforts focused on high-growth areas like digital transformation and economic diversification, contributing to the launch of the National E-Commerce Strategy and the expansion of solar energy infrastructure to ensure the economy remains competitive and future-ready.
Central to this partnership was a commitment to leaving no one behind by bridging the gap between national policy and the lived experience of the most vulnerable. UN technical expertise contributed to the Cabinet’s approval of the Multidimensional Child Poverty Report and the Minimum Expenditure Basket, grounding social protection in rigorous new evidence. These structural gains were matched by direct health and protection interventions—addressing everything from neonatal care to HIV-related stigma—and providing vital support pathways for refugees, migrants, and survivors of trafficking to ensure a more equitable society.
Beyond social and economic gains, the UN focused on protecting the environment and securing the peace, linking climate resilience directly to the safety of local communities. Through 15 community-led initiatives and specialized training for farmers and fisherfolk, the UN strengthened livelihoods against climate shocks while supporting the launch of the nation’s first National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. Supported by a diverse coalition of partners, this work reinforced Trinidad and Tobago’s role as a regional leader, tackling the root causes of insecurity and environmental vulnerability to build long-term stability.
