Blue Economies and Nature-based Solutions

This guide provides advice on how to better integrate marine and coastal components within Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for enhanced climate action.

It presents the concepts of blue economy, blue carbon ecosystems and nature-based solutions (NbS) and discusses how they can be included in NCDs and climate policy documents. Many resources that already exist on this subject are reviewed and readers are directed to further tools and methodologies that can support their own research. 

This resource has been designed for policymakers and technical experts who are supporting work on blue economy. While its analysis and cases studies draw on the SIDS experience in Latin America and the Caribbean it can be of use to any country that is considering a blue economy approach.
