United Nations Barbados and Eastern Caribbean 2023 Annual Results Report
The UN in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean has released its 2023 Annual Results Report. This report reflects on the collective efforts undertaken in year two of the Cooperation Framework, highlighting both progress and ongoing challenges. The year 2023 presented a complex landscape for Caribbean Small island developing States (SIDS) facing the lingering effects of COVID-19, coupled with impacts from natural disasters, and ongoing wars, which all served to exacerbate existing vulnerabilities. Despite these hardships, the region demonstrated remarkable resilience.
2023 also showcased the power of collaboration in the face of adversity. Through strong partnerships with regional governments, civil society, and development partners, this UN Team made significant strides in key areas including advancing climate adaptation, gender equality, promoting sustainable livelihoods, supporting digitalization and bolstering disaster preparedness. Efforts to Leave No One Behind remained central to joint efforts as the team championed the inclusion of all vulnerable groups within decision-making processes — including women and girls, persons with disabilities, migrants, and other marginalized groups.
