XVI Ministerial Forum for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean
From Wednesday 30 October to Friday 1 November 2024 - The Government of Barbados, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will host the XVI Ministerial Forum on Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, as a space to discuss opportunities to build resilience against future shocks that continue to challenge development in the region.
The Forum will be held at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle and will welcome Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, and ECLAC Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs. The event is expected to have over 150 participants, including more than 20 government delegations from the region.
A Ministerial Declaration is expected to be the outcome of the Forum. The Declaration aims to be a roadmap for transformative policy action and impactful initiatives that transcend boundaries, ultimately steering the region toward a more equitable and resilient future.
Build Back Better Training for Carriacou Home-Owners
From Wednesday 30 Octoberto Friday 1 November 2024, theUN Migration Agency, International Organization for Migration (IOM), will partner with the UN's Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to host the "Build Back Better" Free Training for home-owners from Carriacou Grenada, whose lives and livelihoods were disrupted by the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in several Caribbean islands in July 2024.
The event takes place at Mermaid Hotel and will see 100 repair kits distributed to the most vulnerable. Register to attend by reaching out via email to kpazsans@iom.int
