RegIonal Brief: Latin America and the Caribbean — The state of the world’s chIldren 2023 — For Every Child, Vaccination
18 May 2023
Globally, an estimated 67 million children missed out entirely or partially on routine immunisation from 2019 to 2021. In Latin America and the Caribbean, this figure is 6.8 million children. The region has historically maintained high levels of vaccination coverage but has experienced a considerable decrease over the last few years. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this trend, and more children have missed essential vaccines. As these children pass the age when vaccines are routinely given, it will require a dedicated effort to ensure that they catch up with their vaccinations.
