Produced by the United Nations Information Centre for the Caribbean Area (UNIC Caribbean), this resource commemorates the 10th anniversary of The Permanent Memorial to Honour the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade at the United Nations. Commonly known as the Ark of Return, this Memorial at UN Headquarters in New York was designed by American architect Rodney Leon to underscore the tragic legacy of the slave trade which affected 15 million Africans and invites visitors to contemplate this legacy while fighting against racism and prejudice today. 

This resource shares the story of the Memorial and seeks to increase awareness about the United Nations Outreach Programme on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery.
